First Time Ziplining? Follow These Four Tips

Blog

Have you decided to go on your very first ziplining adventure? If so, you are in for a wild experience where you'll be traveling over some beautiful sights. However, it's important to follow these tips for your first time.

Pull Your Hair Back

You'll be wearing a helmet when you go ziplining. While it may cover your hair, it can still get in the way as you are traveling down the cable and the wind is getting in your face. It's always a good idea to pull your hair back so that it is out of the way and you can see exactly where you are going.

Wear Shoes That Tie Or Strap Onto Your Feet

Your footwear is just as important when you go ziplining. You are going to be suspended in the air high off the ground, and the last thing you want to have happen is lose a shoe somewhere over a zipline path. You should always wear shoes that are going to tie tight onto your foot or sandals that have straps that attach tightly. Avoid wearing loose sandals or flip flops, since chances are that you'll lose one while you're on the zipline.

Know How You'll Take Pictures

Part of the fun of going ziplining is to take pictures and videos of you actually doing it. Consider a camera mount that will fit over your helmet or your chest. It is the best way to ensure that you will not drop the camera while you're traveling on the zip line. Some zipline companies do not allow you to take anything handheld with you while you are ziplining, even if it has a wrist strap. You need both hands free to hold onto the zipline handlebar and to brake near the end of the line.

Know How To Brake

Speaking of braking, it is important to know the tips for how to brake near the end of a zipline run. Some zipline courses have automatic braking, which is done by placing a wooden block out on the line that you hit and will slow down the zipline. Others will require you to move the handlebar back and forth so that friction is created and slows you down. There will be a basic zipline that you can try that allows you to practice your braking techniques so that you can learn how to do it.

extreme sports that any thrill seeker will enjoy

My name is Alice Parker and welcome to my blog. When I married my husband, I was introduced to many new sports that I wasn't even aware existed. When we went on our honeymoon, we went skydiving, repelled from a mountain and went scuba diving with some of the most remarkable sea creatures I have ever seen. Those activities were just the start of our active life together. Over the past ten years, we have enjoyed so many heart-pumping thrills that I wouldn't give up for anything. Our blog contains several awesome extreme sports that any thrill seeker will enjoy.
